L'Oree du Bois is a 4
star site, approximately 4 kilometres from spectacular golden
beaches, arguably the best beaches in Western France, and easily
accessible by car or by bike along forest trails. The nearby beaches,
all different in character, are ideal for surfing,
windsurfing & sailing. The new swimming pool complex with slides
and wave machine, and the bar area extension have been recently
upgraded.

The Cote Sauvage beach stretches
for some 20 km.
We have a mixture of
2 and 3 bedroomed cottage style amobile homes at L'Oree du Bois, some with verandas. The site is in a stunning natural
setting - the forest of La Coubre,a French heritage site, which is just over 5 minutes drive
away from the Cote Sauvage.
The
resort of La Palmyre, with lively bars, restaurants, shops, a
large childrens adventure playground, glorious beaches and much
more, is about 8 minutes drive from the site.

In
July and August the site has a team of young people that organises
the entertainment every evening of the week. Every Saturday evening
at 8pm there is a “welcome” drink in the bar area giving
you the chance to meet the team and learn about the various events planned for the week.

In Charente-Maritime, the bicycle is
king. Hundreds of kilometres of cycle paths,
signposted circuits and cycle priority routes mean
there is a route for everyone whatever your
age or level of fitness. Cycle to the forests, the marshlands,
along the coast or in the interior.
Ask for a map of the region's cycle paths in any tourist office
in the area.
Bicycles can be hired from reception.
Close by is Luna
Park, about 4 minutes by car, or 15 -20 minute walk, a large family fairground,
offering all sorts of entertainment.
The Forest Adventure Theme park is
next door to the site. A great day out for all the family!

Other places to visit are Bordeaux, Cognac and others too
numerous to mention. That's why so many of our customers
return to this lovely area! There is so much to do and see. |

La
Palmyre itself is a very pleasant village resort with shops,
supermarket, banks, restaurants, bars & cafes.
La Palmyre
has its own port & beaches, and is about 10 miles north west of Royan.
An absolute "must"
is a visit to the zoo of La Palmyre. In 1966, the dream of
Claude CAILLÉ became a reality with the opening of the
magnificent zoological collection of La Palmyre.
Through passion, hard work and belief this zoo has become a
world-wide reference which welcomes more than 800,000 visitors
each year.
About 10 minutes drive from the site, the zoo is an oasis of
encounters and discoveries with over 1,500 animals from every
continent transforming a pine forest into a real-life 'Jungle
Book' according to the remarkable imagination of one man.
Special events: Trained sea lion and parrot performances between
Easter and the end of October.
